Marriage, Marathon and the Home Office: Welcome to my Detailed Diary

7 Feb

This is me, walking in to the church on my wedding day. About to take the plunge!

Welcome to my blog! My first ever, real-life, online diary.

Over the Christmas holiday, I was taking time off from just leaving my job in order to start my own business in the land of freelancing writing. I had done a lot of reading about how to promote your business, and many experts suggest creating and maintaining a blog to demonstrate who you are as a person, and as an expert in your field.

While I would like to go on and on about my beefs with grammatical errors (its and it’s have two different meanings!), it doesn’t seem like a suitable, or even motivating subject to maintain in the blogosphere.

So voila. presto. The show must go on. No, wait….

Here is my blog. As you’ll see in the “About Me” section, I’m turning 30 this year and have high expectations for a good year. That is, if everything goes according to plan. I’m launching my own business, I’m training for a marathon, and I’m experiencing my first year in marital bliss, or so my husband tells me.

I know this blog will present ironic situations, as I delve into self-employment. Get blisters from my long runs. And, I swear, if I have to pick up another pair of socks on the floor….but that’s the best part. No one is perfect, and will experience highs and lows in  any of these situations.

As my good friend Greg Anderson says, “Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity, but in doing it.”

That’s what I’m going to share, as I experience the ‘best year of my life’.

I love it, Cat. I’ve been following all three blogs so far and they’re great. Makes me feel like we’re still together on a daily basis….oh the past! I have no doubt this will be the best year yet and that you will be successful. What a leap to take, but good on ya. I’ve been doing alot of writing these days and would love to bounce some of it off you to see what you think (pro bono of course – just kidding:). Can’t wait for the next one!

PS – love the new office.
